Bay Road Detour Begins as Drought Declaration Hits Sharon
SHARON — A multi-day traffic detour on Bay Road began this week alongside a new statewide drought declaration that puts Sharon under strict outdoor water use limits, while town police prepare to host a public safety event next weekend at Crescent Ridge.

Bay Road will be closed between Chemung and Plain streets from Thursday, July 23 through Monday, July 27, excluding the weekend, to accommodate an Eversource Gas project, according to the town's website. Drivers should expect detours in the area through the closure period.
Separately, the state's Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs has declared most of Massachusetts, including Sharon, to be under a Level 2 significant drought. As a result, outdoor water use in town is now restricted to handheld hoses only, per the town announcement.
The Norfolk County Sheriff's Office and the Sharon Police Department will host the annual Summer Safety Fest on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Crescent Ridge in Sharon, the town announced.
SCHOOLS
The School Committee has a meeting scheduled for Wednesday, July 29, followed by a School Committee Negotiations Subcommittee executive session on Thursday, July 30, according to the district calendar. No other district policy or calendar changes were posted in the coverage window.
