Brookline Adopts Ten-Year Climate Plan Targeting Net-Zero by 2050

BROOKLINE — Brookline has formally adopted its 2026 Climate Action and Resiliency Plan, a comprehensive 10-year strategy charting the town's path to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, according to the town's official website.

TOWN HALL

The plan, announced this week on the town's homepage, lays out a decade-long framework for reducing emissions across municipal operations and the broader community as Brookline works toward its 2050 net-zero target. Town officials did not detail specific implementation timelines or funding figures in the announcement, but the plan's adoption marks a formal commitment the town will build future climate and infrastructure decisions around.

Separately, the MBTA issued an update this week on the Beacon Street C-branch accessibility project, continuing a story the town's News Flash has been tracking for several weeks as the transit agency works on station improvements along the line.
