Brookline Golf Course Reopens All 18 Holes With Community Event
BROOKLINE — Brookline Golf Course reopened all 18 holes and will mark the occasion with a community event today, while a Patch report says most parking fines in town are set to increase following Select Board approval.

The Town Administrator's July newsletter highlights a busy summer stretch, including the full reopening of Brookline Golf Course, a new Public Health Plaza, and extreme heat safety guidance, alongside the Rec Summer Concert Series, Yoga in the Park, and the Summer Eats Program. The golf course's reopening of all 18 holes coincides with a community event scheduled for today, July 17.
Separately, the Parks and Open Space Division announced that Lotta Bradburn Schick Park officially reopened to the public on July 10 following a comprehensive renovation — a project also covered by Patch, which reported the park's reopening featured a redesigned playground.
Town Hall's roof construction project, previously slated to begin this week, has been delayed and will now start Monday, July 20; the town has posted information for residents needing to visit Town Hall during the work. Real estate and personal property tax bills, mailed June 30, are due August 3. The town also announced adoption of its 2026 Climate Action and Resiliency Plan, a 10-year strategy aimed at reaching net-zero emissions by 2050. DPW continues offering bi-weekly Household Hazardous Waste disposal at the Brookline Transfer Station, with the next collection Tuesday, July 28.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Brookline Public Library has a full slate of programming this week. On July 17 itself, families can catch a Japanese-language storytime (日本語おはなし会) for children ages zero to five at Coolidge Corner, and Gentle Chair Yoga with Keith Beasley at the Putterham branch. Saturday, July 18 brings "Worlds in Words," a creative writing workshop for tweens ages 10-13 designed to build storytelling and writing skills.
Looking ahead, the library's Summer Eats program continues at Brookline Avenue Playground with free breakfast and lunch served weekdays through August 14, and a Matt Heaton Family Concert is planned in connection with that program on July 21. A magic show featuring performer Ed Popielarczyk, a veteran entertainer and balloon sculptor, is set for Monday, July 27.
Note: all three library branches will be closed Wednesday, July 22, for a professional development day.
