Brookline Library Holds Crafternoon, Sets Summer Program Slate
BROOKLINE — The Public Library of Brookline drew crafters to a drop-in Adult Crafternoon session Saturday, part of a run of summer programming that continues into next week with a free family concert, a mystery book group and a children's librarian-led storytime.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The library's Adult Crafternoon, held Saturday at Coolidge Corner, gave residents a chance to drop in and work on personal craft projects alongside other crafters, one of several events the library has run this summer to draw adults into its branches. The session followed a Saturday origami workshop earlier in the day, continuing a stretch of hands-on programming tied to the library's summer lineup.
COMING UP
The library's Plant a Seed, Read! summer reading program continues Thursday, Aug. 13, with a visit from the Massachusetts Horticultural Society's Plantmobile as part of its Farm Fresh program. Residents can also catch a free Summer Eats concert with musician Matt Heaton on Monday, Aug. 10, at Brookline Avenue Playground, where free breakfast and lunch will be served. The same day, the library's Monday Midday Mystery Group meets for readers who enjoy detective fiction, and on Tuesday, Aug. 11, children's librarian Leah leads a Summer Storytime with songs and movement activities for young kids.
Separately, the town's Department of Public Works holds its next Household Hazardous Waste drop-off on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the Brookline Transfer Station on Newton Street, accepting items such as batteries, oil-based paint, fuels, pesticides and small electronics.
