Brookline Library Launches Tween Writing Workshop, Pride Programs This Weekend
The Brookline Public Library opens its doors this morning for a creative writing workshop aimed at tweens, one of several community programs running this weekend as the school district wraps up weather make-up days.
SCHOOLS
Brookline Public Schools are in the final stretch of weather make-up days, with sessions scheduled Saturday, June 28, and Sunday, June 29. The calendar postings confirm these are the last recovery days tied to earlier cancellations, marking the practical end of the 2025–26 academic year for most students.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Brookline Public Library's Coolidge Corner branch hosts "Worlds in Words," a creative writing workshop for tweens ages 10 to 13, today, Saturday, June 27. The program is designed to expand curiosity and sharpen writing skills through guided exercises. Looking ahead, the library is offering a run of Pride Month programs: a Pride button-making drop-in at Coolidge Corner on Monday, June 29; a book reading and stuffed animal vet clinic with author Jennifer Welborn on Tuesday, June 30; and a Pride-themed storytime and craft on Wednesday, July 1. Note that all three library branches will be closed Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, for Independence Day.
ELSEWHERE IN THE NEWS
Brookline Patch's morning digest flagged real estate news from the Cottage Farm neighborhood: "🌱 Patch AM: See how much Brookline's Cottage Farm mansions just sold for." The item points to recent high-end property transactions in one of the town's most storied residential areas, per Brookline Patch (read it at https://patch.com/massachusetts/brookline).
Patch also continued coverage of the town's newly adopted environmental roadmap: "🌱 Patch AM: How Brookline's new 10-year climate plan could change daily life." The digest examines what the recently approved Climate Action and Resiliency Plan — which the town's own homepage also highlighted this week — could mean for residents' day-to-day routines, per Brookline Patch (read it at https://patch.com/massachusetts/brookline).
Earlier in the week, Patch published a standalone piece on the underlying vote: "Brookline Approves New 10-Year Climate Action And Resiliency Plan." The plan was developed by the Department of Public Works' Sustainability and Natural Resources Division and sets a course toward net-zero emissions by 2050, per Brookline Patch (read it at https://patch.com/massachusetts/brookline).
For those planning ahead, Patch has also published a holiday guide: "2026 July 4 Events Guide For Brookline," covering fireworks, parades, and America's 250th anniversary celebrations in and around town, per Brookline Patch (read it at https://patch.com/massachusetts/brookline).
