Commission Votes To Hire Peer Reviewer For Roadway
Dedham's Conservation Commission voted to hire Beta Group for $7,400 to peer-review a contested roadway application.
Conservation · Meeting of August 6, 2026
Dedham's Conservation Commission voted to hire Beta Group for $7,400 to peer-review a contested roadway application. The application, filed for the Presidential Park subdivision on Reagan Lane and Kennedy Drive, rests on engineer Mike Carter's claim, based on 45 test holes, that the roadway corridor is already degraded land eligible for relaxed riverfront redevelopment rules. Resident Christopher Walkley of Wentworth Street countered that letting "the current owner benefit from his impermissible work would set a bad precedent." The commission continued that hearing to September 3.
Commissioners also issued negative determinations for a Westbrook Crossing Condominiums sinkhole repair and a Sandy Valley Road accessory dwelling unit's septic system, and took a straw poll rejecting a Bussey Street mixed-use building's footprint for encroaching toward Mother Brook, continuing that application to August 20.
