Dover Declares Level 2 Drought, Curbs Outdoor Watering

DOVER — Dover has declared a Level 2 Significant Drought, restricting nonessential outdoor water use to hand-held hoses or watering cans and confining that use to before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m., town officials announced this week.

The Level 2 declaration is the most consequential town announcement of the day: under the new restrictions, residents may use hand-held hoses or watering cans for nonessential outdoor watering only outside the 9 a.m.-to-5 p.m. window, town officials said.

The Department of Public Works is also preparing for paving projects set to begin this month, according to the town's announcement, though a full list of streets has not yet been released.

Separately, the Board of Selectmen met with Aquarion Water Company for a public information session to discuss options for resolving water-quality problems affecting Aquarion customers, including discolored water and the presence of PFAS.
