Dover Enters Extreme Heat Week Under Active Drought Restrictions
Dover heads into a stretch of dangerous heat this week, with state forecasters warning of feels-like temperatures topping 110 degrees — timing that coincides with the town's active Level 2 Significant Drought and its existing restrictions on outdoor water use.

The drought declaration already on the books takes on added urgency as the heat builds. Dover residents are reminded that nonessential outdoor watering is restricted to hand-held hoses or watering cans, and only during the hours before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m. The Department of Public Works has also announced that paving projects are set to begin in July; residents near affected roads should watch for updates from the town.
Separately, Dover's water quality challenges are an ongoing concern. Aquarion Water Company recently presented options to the Board of Selectmen at a public information session addressing discolored water and the presence of PFAS in the water supply; that conversation is continuing.
