Foxborough School Committee Approves Five-Year Strategic Plan, Eyes January Budget Vote

FOXBOROUGH — January 14, 2026 — Foxborough School Committee unanimously adopts a five-year strategic plan and signals support for a $45.2 million FY27 budget that avoids layoffs. The committee voted 5-0 to approve the Plan for Success 2025-2030 on January 14, covering AI literacy, expanded STEM pathways, a special education external review, and pursuit of a Taylor Elementary School renovation through the MSBA grant program. On the budget, Director of Business and Finance Karen Sheridan presented three proposals ranging from $44,967,943 to a roughly 3.98 percent increase; budget subcommittee members flatly rejected Proposal 1 — aligned with the town's 3.25 percent guidance — saying it "is going to cause layoffs" as pandemic-era newcomer funding expires.
