Needham Assessors Resolve 158 of 161 Abatement Cases, Set May 29 Follow-Up

NEEDHAM — May 1, 2026 — Needham Board of Assessors reports 158 of 161 abatement applications resolved as cycle nears close. The board, meeting Friday via Zoom, received a status update showing 65 applications granted and 93 denied out of 161 total filed this cycle, with a small number of cases remaining for further review. Members cautioned that "grant doesn't mean people got everything they wanted" and that the denial count includes filings submitted without supporting documentation. After a closed executive session, the board announced decisions on seven properties: six were denied, including revised denials at 23 Highland Terrace and 166 Crescent Road, while 16 Highland Terrace received a revised decision of granted. The board scheduled its next meeting for May 29, 2026 at 9:30 a.m., with a commercial-versus-residential abatement breakdown and a discussion of a "32 Scott appraisal" on the planned agenda.
