NEEDHAM — April 9, 2026 — Needham Conservation Commission votes to trial hybrid meetings starting August 13. The commission voted 7-0 at its April 9 meeting to adopt a hybrid in-person and remote format on a trial basis for six meetings beginning August 13, 2026, after years of fully remote operation since the COVID-19 pandemic. Chair David Herr said he would not "keep attendance like a schoolteacher" but expected members to attend in person absent a legitimate reason, and the commission agreed to "strongly urge" consultants and applicants to appear in person as well. The board also continued a contested Notice of Intent for Forbes Pond at 636 Charles River Street to April 23 after Water Superintendent Mike Gretzky warned that proposed synthetic herbicides posed unacceptable risks near the town's three drinking water wells — "the only water supply we treat and generate for Needham."
