Select Board · Meeting of October 20, 2026

Brookline's Select Board approved an updated deal governing a 96-unit building planned for 26 Pleasant Street. The board voted 4-0, with member Bernard Greene absent for the vote, to replace an October 6 version of the memorandum of agreement with Nordblom Company with an updated draft negotiated by Vice Chair Michael Rubenstein. Attorney Jeffrey Allen said the project would raise the parcel's taxes from about $30,000 to $580,000-$600,000 a year.

Three Precinct 17 town meeting members, Linda Olson-Pelkey, Susie Roberts and Susan Park, asked the board to refer the rezoning to a yearlong study committee instead, citing cumulative impacts with two other nearby projects and inadequate heat-island mitigation. Susan Park asked "what is the rush in supporting this Warrant Article when it would take one year to just do a study." The board closed the public hearing on the rezoning itself, Warrant Article 15, without taking a recommendation vote, sending both articles to the November Special Town Meeting.
