The Millis Select Board voted 2-1 to endorse a citizen's petition protecting Cassidy Field as permanent open space ahead of a binding Nov. 9 Town Meeting vote.
Select Board · Meeting of October 19, 2026
MILLIS — The Millis Select Board voted 2-1 to endorse a citizen's petition protecting Cassidy Field as permanent open space ahead of a binding Nov. 9 Town Meeting vote. Chair Craig cast the dissenting vote after telling colleagues "this is a policy decision" and warning the move could set a precedent affecting the adjacent Braun parcel; board member Jim McKay backed the petition, calling it something the petitioners had "the right thing" to pursue. The Finance Committee had voted 8-1 to recommend dismissal of the same article.
Separately, the board pulled $1.3 million in Clyde Brown School bond funds off the warrant, deferring a decision to Spring Town Meeting, and voted to close a fiscal 2027 water and sewer rate hearing without adopting a new fee structure. The board also accepted a $300,000 cash payment from the Woodland Subdivision developer in lieu of building a soccer field and approved a 40 percent stormwater abatement, worth about $22,238, for the Regency at Glen Ellyn.
