Stoughton Youth Soccer League seeks community support for long-planned Kolz Field drainage project.

STOUGHTON -- The Stoughton Youth Soccer League (SYSL) is asking residents and families to back a multi-year effort to rehabilitate Kolz Field Complex, the league's home facility, according to the SYSL website.

The league says Kolz Field has long lacked adequate drainage, frequently forcing field closures that disrupt schedules. The Stoughton Community Preservation Committee approved a grant to support improvements, but the allocation required a vote at the May 2026 Annual Town Meeting. According to the SYSL site, the project calls for subsurface tilling and laser-grading, drainage soil additions, and replacement of aging fencing and goals. If approved, environmental engineering surveys and permitting would begin in fall 2026, with the first field closing for remediation in spring 2027 and reopening that summer. A second field would follow, with the full project expected to be completed by spring 2028.

SYSL also notes it must raise an additional $40,000 as part of the CPC grant agreement and says a fundraising initiative is planned.
