Wellesley Design Review Board approves five sign permits in single session
Design Review Board · Meeting of August 19, 2026
Wellesley Design Review Board clears five sign and storefront permits in one meeting. Chair Juann Khoory, Member Sheila Dinsmoor and Alternate Member Alex Zhou unanimously approved signage for Middlesex Savings Bank's new 390 Washington Street branch, an 18.1-square-foot illuminated sign reusing the former Citizens Bank awning frame, and a wall sign and awning for Bridgewater Chocolate at 59 Central Street, moving into the former Wellesley Toy Shop space. The board also approved a special sign permit for Solid Core at 51B Church Street on condition its lettering "line up with" a neighboring storefront's height, and conditioned approval of a Newton-Wellesley Family Practice sign at 74 Central Street on matching a nearby Shake Shack sign's height.
Applicant Rick Cameron said the landlord had "dictated" a limited sign allowance split among three incoming tenants. The board closed by approving minutes from its July 8 and July 29 meetings.
