Wellesley High School's fall athletes took the field for the first tryouts of the season this week, while the town opened registration for fall recreation programs.

TOWN -- Wellesley's Recreation Department posted its 2026 Fall Brochure, with registration opening Monday, Aug. 24 at 10 a.m. for residents and Monday, Aug. 31 at 10 a.m. for non-residents, according to the department's website. After-school program registration for the fall session was set to begin Sept. 8. The department also posted a new item titled "Morses Pond Guardhouse/Restroom update" on its site.

HIGH SCHOOL -- Tryouts for Wellesley High School's fall sports program, the Raiders, began Monday, Aug. 24, according to the athletics department's posted schedules. Football held sessions at the stadium, turf and gym through the week, including team pictures on Aug. 25. Boys and girls soccer practiced at Sprague fields and the stadium; field hockey worked out at the turf and Sprague 3; girls volleyball met in the gym; boys golf held sessions at Nehoiden Golf Club; boys and girls cross country and girls swimming and diving held daily workouts; and cheerleading practiced in the dance studio. The athletics department reminded athletes that a current physical, uploaded through the SNAP Health Portal, is required under MIAA guidelines before participation. Team schedules for the season are posted on ArbiterLive under Wellesley High School.
