Wellesley Youth Hockey is bringing back a USA Hockey player-development coach for a body-contact clinic, while youth basketball and the town's recreation department push ahead with fall registration.

TOWN -- The Recreation Department's 2026 Fall Brochure opened registration for residents on Monday, Aug. 24, and for non-residents on Monday, Aug. 31, both at 10 a.m., according to the department's website. The department also says After School Fall Registration begins Sept. 8, and has posted information on Teen Center fall activities.

YOUTH LEAGUES -- The Wellesley Youth Basketball Association has scheduled two "WHS Raiders Clinics" at Wellesley Middle School. The first, Monday, Sept. 14, is billed as preparation for MetroWest (MW) travel tryouts and is open to boys and girls entering grades 4-8, with 4th and 5th graders running from 6 to 7 p.m. and 6th through 8th graders from 7 to 8 p.m. in WMS Gym A. A second session, a Preseason Skills Clinic open to grades 3-8, is set for Tuesday, Oct. 13, on the same schedule format. Both carry a $20 donation fee benefiting the WHS Boys & Girls booster clubs.

Wellesley Youth Hockey Association has scheduled a Body Contact & Angling Clinic for Friday, Sept. 11, at 7:30 p.m., featuring Jason Guerriero, USA Hockey's Manager of Player Development. The clinic will focus on safe body contact, puck protection, angling and winning battles "as players prepare for higher levels of play," according to WYHA. It is open to WYHA PeeWees, Bantams, U12 Girls and U14 Girls, with registration capped at 48 skaters; goalies are encouraged to attend and do not count toward that cap.
