Weston Road Paving Rescheduled to July 8-9 After Weather Delay

Weather has delayed the long-planned Weston Road repaving project by one day, while the Wellesley Free Library kicked off a busy stretch of summer programming this week even as its Main Library parking lot heads into months of construction.

TOWN HALL

The town's Department of Public Works has pushed back the Weston Road paving project to Wednesday and Thursday, July 8 and 9, after inclement weather forced a one-day delay from the originally announced schedule, according to a News Flash update posted Tuesday. Crews will be on site both days from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the road will be closed to through traffic during working hours, so residents in the area should plan alternate routes this week.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Wellesley Free Library's Main Library parking lot will be under construction from July through September 2026, with the library warning patrons that parking may be limited during that stretch. The Hills Branch remains closed for renovations until fall 2026, leaving the Main Library and Fells Branch as the primary options for residents this summer.

Despite the construction disruptions, the library's calendar stays full. This week brings "Digital Photography With Your DSLR Camera, Part 3" on Wednesday, July 8, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Jackie's Room; "Tech Time in Jackie's Room" and "Learn to Play Rummikub" on Thursday, July 9; and the "Banned Book Club" that same evening from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Blue Room. Children's programming continues with Fells Garden Storytime and Storytime at Main, both Wednesday morning, plus "Explore Your World: Nature and Science Fun" Wednesday afternoon.

Looking further out, the library is preparing for "The Women of '76 with Rita Parisi," a one-woman theatrical performance bringing to life stories of women during the American Revolution, set for Tuesday, July 14, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Wakelin Room.
