Advisory Committee Votes Down White Pond Funding
Wellesley's Advisory Committee voted down $100,000 in free cash for White Pond legal work.
Advisory Committee · Meeting of October 21, 2026
Wellesley's Advisory Committee voted down $100,000 in free cash for White Pond legal work. The 6-7 roll call rejected a citizen petition backed by trustee Linda Simonson and Wellesley Conservation Land Trust leaders Michael Tobin and Judy Barr, who warned the pond's last active trustee may resign without town help. Town Counsel Tom Harrington said a confirmed trust with even one holdout beneficiary would force an eminent domain taking.
The same meeting, the committee voted 12-1 to recommend a new $170,890-to-$230,702 Level 16 salary grade for the facilities director, and voted 13-1 to recommend a rewritten open meetings bylaw after member Daniel Weinger said "shall is a mandatory term" that needed no softening. Member Penny Rossano called the pay change "very messy" in her lone dissent.
