Advisory Hears HR Pay Fix, White Pond Petition

Advisory Committee · Meeting of September 23, 2026

Wellesley Advisory Committee hears pay-ceiling fix and a murky pond-trust petition, votes on neither. Human Resources Director Dolores Hamilton and board chair Sean Baker pitched a new "Level 16" pay grade, pushing salaries toward $230,000 for the facilities director, DPW director and CFO, after a $48,500 MGT study left no room above the prior top tier. Member Penny Rossano called it "a violation of what you put in place just a year ago." Separately, Wellesley Conservation Land Trust president Michael Tobin sought $25,000 to $50,000 for legal work on White Pond, whose 1955 trust may have lapsed in 1975.

Town Counsel Tom Harrington called the ownership tangle "a mess," and trustee Linda Simonson, the pond's lone remaining volunteer, said she's "not very optimistic." The Natural Resources Commission reached no consensus on the petition. Both special town meeting articles return for committee votes in October.
