Boynton previews packed warrant for May 11 Medway annual town meeting

Medway Town Manager Michael Boynton previewed a packed annual town meeting warrant ahead of the May 11 session at Medway High School. The annual meeting, which begins at 7:30 p.m. following a brief special town meeting at 7 p.m., opens with Article 1 — the purchase of the Shady Oaks Farm property on Winthrop Street — which Boynton said is expected to draw a large crowd. Article 11 funds $800,000 from taxation and $750,000 from free cash for roads and sidewalks, with Summer Street resurfacing from the Bellingham line to the Holliston line as the headline project.

Article 16, a payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement with the developer of the proposed Medway Energy Center battery storage facility behind Stone Street, would generate "just over $3 million a year in general fund revenue" if the project is built — enough to make it the town's second-largest taxpayer. Zoning articles 22 through 25 address small-capacity energy permitting, CBD height limits tied to the proposed municipal complex on the former Medway Block site, and Planning Board setback flexibility for that project.
