Brookline Adopts 10-Year Climate Plan, Reopens Renovated Park
BROOKLINE — The town has adopted a Climate Action and Resiliency Plan mapping a 10-year strategy toward net-zero emissions by 2050, the same week Parks and Open Space crews reopened the newly renovated Lotta Bradburn Schick Park to the public.
TOWN HALL Brookline officials this week announced adoption of the 2026 Climate Action and Resiliency Plan, described by the town as a comprehensive 10-year strategy charting the town's path to net-zero emissions by 2050.
Separately, the Brookline Parks and Open Space Division announced that Lotta Bradburn Schick Park officially reopened to the public on July 10 following a comprehensive renovation. The Brookline Golf Course has also reopened all 18 holes and will host a community event on Friday, July 17, to mark the occasion.
Town Hall Roof Construction, previously slated to start earlier this month, is now set to begin Monday, July 20; the town says it will post further guidance on visiting Town Hall during the work. Real estate and personal property tax bills, mailed June 30, are due Monday, Aug. 3.
COMMUNITY & ARTS The Public Library of Brookline has a full slate of programming this week across its three branches. On Thursday, July 16, the library hosts "Wishing for Wings" Session 1, a butterfly-lifecycle storytime and craft program for young children, alongside Color & Collage, a low-pressure creative workshop for adults. On Friday, July 17, look for a Japanese-language storytime at Coolidge Corner and the weekly Gentle Chair Yoga session with Keith Beasley at the Putterham branch. On Saturday, July 18, the library runs Worlds in Words, a creative-writing workshop for tweens ages 10 to 13.
