Brookline Lands $175,000 in State Grants for Energy Upgrades

BROOKLINE — Brookline secured $175,000 in state funding for energy upgrades and renter weatherization, according to a report from Brookline.News, while the town's library kicked off a week-long crawl through the Minuteman Library Network's branches.

The Public Library of Brookline is taking part in the Minuteman Library Crawl, giving residents six days to visit participating Minuteman-network libraries as part of the event. The crawl launched Friday and runs alongside the library's ongoing Plant a Seed, Read! summer reading program at its three branches: Brookline Village, Coolidge Corner and Putterham.

COMING UP

The library hosts "Learn Origami with Jingting" on Saturday, August 8, an introduction to paper folding led by librarian and origami expert Jingting. Also on August 8, the library holds its Adult Crafternoon, a drop-in session for residents to work on current crafting projects alongside other crafters.

The Department of Public Works accepts household hazardous and universal waste at the Brookline Transfer Station, 815 Newton Street, on Tuesday, August 11, taking items including lightbulbs, batteries, oil-based paint, fuels and pesticides.

On Thursday, August 13, the library welcomes the Massachusetts Horticultural Society's Plantmobile for a "Farm Fresh" visit tied to the summer reading program.
