Cohasset Select Board votes 3-2 to sponsor harbor intermunicipal agreement forum

Select Board · Meeting of February 5, 2026

Cohasset Select Board narrowly approves a public harbor forum over sharp internal opposition. The board voted 3-2 at its February 5 virtual meeting to sponsor a forum on the town's intermunicipal harbor agreement with Scituate, responding to a request from resident Tim Davis. Members Paul Grady and David Farag voted yes alongside Chair Ellen Marr, who cast the deciding vote; Chris Plex and Julie Rollins voted no.

Grady argued the forum would demonstrate community support for the agreement and counter what he called misinformation, saying the board had "been accused of hiding things, everything behind the executive session." Rollins and Plex countered that the forum's stated purpose — examining how the board reached the agreement — would require disclosing details protected by executive session privilege, calling the exercise counterproductive and potentially damaging to the town's relationship with Scituate. Marr conditioned her yes vote on strict guardrails and said the event should be scheduled in April or May, after town meeting season, with board member Grady tasked with informing Davis that internal negotiating details will not be discussed.
