Dover Select Board Approves School Roof Funding Agreement, $470,000 Paving Contract

DOVER — March 24, 2026 — Dover Select Board backs $764,524 school roof agreement and awards paving contract at half rival bids. The board unanimously approved an intergovernmental municipal agreement committing Dover's 53.2 percent share of a Dover-Sherborn Regional High School roof restoration to the regional school district, with the actual funding contingent on May 4 town meeting approval. Dover-Sherborn Regional School District Business Manager Dawn Fattori said the low bid of just over $1.4 million — against an original $2 million estimate — carries a 20-year warranty and costs roughly half a full roof replacement. The board also unanimously awarded a town-wide paving contract to Pawtucket Hot Mix Asphalt of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, at $470,033.35, less than half the next-lowest bid of approximately $957,000, subject to town counsel review of police detail rate language. Chair Robin Hunter flagged that Dover's practice of waiving building permit fees and providing uninspected police and fire services for regional projects amounts to a long-running subsidy of Sherborn that she wants formally addressed — though not before voting to waive fees on the roof project Tuesday night.
