Flash flood watch, tax deadline top midweek in Wellesley
A regional flash flood watch and an approaching town tax deadline were the day's most consequential items for residents, while the library and schools kept summer programming rolling.
TOWN HALL
Property tax payments are due August 3, according to a town notice picked up via Google Alerts, with residents encouraged to pay online through the bill payment system managed by City Hall Systems, by phone, or in person at Town Hall.
Forecasters were warning of heavy tropical downpours capable of producing a "life-threatening flood event" across parts of Massachusetts, with a Flash Flood Watch in effect, per Wellesley Patch's regional weather alert. Residents should watch for localized flooding as the system moves through.
SCHOOLS
Wellesley Public Schools confirmed the district's return date for the 2026-27 year is September 2, 2026, and noted that registration for new students entering grades K-12 remains open, with kindergarten eligibility set for children turning five on or before August 31, 2026. The district also flagged its summer learning and summer reading resources as still available for families before the new year begins.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Wellesley Free Library's summer slate continues this week with Tech Time in Jackie's Room on Thursday, July 30, from 10 a.m. to noon, and a Social Worker Hour the same afternoon from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Main Library.
