Weymouth Secures $11.5 Million For Naval Air Station Infrastructure
WEYMOUTH — Town officials announced a major infrastructure funding deal tied to the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station redevelopment, even as a tropical rain system threatened flooding across the region heading into the weekend.

The Town of Weymouth has negotiated an upfront payment from the Master Developer totaling $11,551,500 to fund continued water and sewer infrastructure upgrades ahead of the redevelopment of the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station, according to the town's News Flash feed. The funding builds on the recently announced $65 million land sale involving New England Development and Brookfield Properties, which town officials say advances a long-awaited plan for housing, commercial development, infrastructure and open space spanning Weymouth, Rockland and Abington.
Separately, the town reiterated that fiscal year 2027 first-quarter tax payments are due by Monday, August 3, with preliminary bills mailed June 29.
COMING UP
The Site Plan Review ADU hearing originally scheduled for Thursday, July 30, has been continued to August 4, per the town calendar. Food Truck Friday is set for Friday, July 31. Looking further ahead, the Weymouth School Committee has its next meeting scheduled for August 20 at 6 p.m. at Town Hall, and the Weymouth Public Schools' first day for staff falls on September 1, with students in grades 1-6 and 9 returning September 3.
