Milton Board of Health conditionally backs solar land transfer ahead of Town Meeting

Milton's Board of Health voted unanimously to conditionally recommend transferring a 30-acre town parcel to the Select Board for a solar photovoltaic project, with final support contingent on answers to outstanding environmental and technical questions. The action came at the board's April 30 reorganization meeting, which also seated new member Deborah Milbauer, MPH, MSW, and re-elected Laura Richards, Esq., as Chair and Mary F. Stenson, BSN, RN, as Secretary.

The parcel — Map 1, Block 38D, Lot 9, a former town dump — had been under Board of Health jurisdiction without members' active knowledge until town counsel recently identified it. Health Director Caroline A. Kinsella, BSN, RN, RS, will relay member questions to Town Administrator Nick Milano before Annual Town Meeting opens May 6; if answers satisfy the board, the recommendation stands.

Milbauer, in her first meeting, pressed for speed: "The faster we do solar panels, the better, in terms of not waiting for another Town Meeting in case we miss this one."
