Milton's Community Preservation Committee heard four funding pitches but took no votes on any of them.
Other Committee · Meeting of October 28, 2026
Milton's Community Preservation Committee heard four funding pitches but took no votes on any of them. The Milton Rowing Club, represented by board secretary Liz Matthews, asked the panel to consider helping buy Dexter Southfield's Milton Landing boathouse, built for more than $500,000 in 2024, as the school shifts rowing to Newton; a backup tented option runs $238,000. Consolidated Facilities interim director Robert Mayhew said a revised quote cut Brooks Field's lighting replacement from $450,000 to $221,565 after inspectors found the 1996 poles still sound.
Milton American Baseball sought $37,000 toward a $57,000 Mary C. Lane field conversion, having already raised $20,000. Member Kathleen O'Donnell said of the town's Affordable Housing Trust, "You don't know when you give a bucket of money to an affordable housing trust what they've done with it," prompting Chair Tom Callahan to cite roughly 70 housing units touched by CPA funds. The committee's only votes, approving two sets of July minutes and adjourning, passed 8-0.
