Needham Park and Recreation Commission Blocks Political Tabling at Town Events

NEEDHAM — May 12, 2026 — Needham Park and Recreation Commission declines to allow Pollard project supporters to table at town recreational events. Meeting May 12 in the Great Plain Room at Town Hall, the commission reached informal consensus to pursue a formal neutrality policy barring political advocacy tabling at commission-run events such as Touch of Trucks and Spooky Walk, after a representative of the Pollard Now group asked to distribute override support materials at department programming. "I would vote for a policy that says we just don't do it," said one commissioner, citing a slippery slope concern and the recreational purpose of department events.
