Select Board · Meeting of September 14, 2026

NORFOLK — The Norfolk Select Board tabled two bow hunting permit requests after abutters packed the September 14 meeting with safety concerns. Chief Barrett recommended allowing archery hunting on the town parcels, calling it unlikely hunters would stray from legal setbacks, but Town Planner Richard McArthur revealed deed research showing the Grove Street parcels belong to the Conservation Commission, not the town outright. The board will hold a joint public hearing with that commission on September 28.

Separately, the board unanimously appointed ten residents, including Glenn Hill, Joyce Terrio and John Bowman, to a new Procurement and Internal Controls Working Advisory Group formed after a state Inspector General's report, and approved a $499,000 Complete Streets grant phase of the Medway Branch Shared Use Path. Resident Liam Capelo Cohen asked pointedly, "Are my kids now needing to wear hunting gear when we go play in the woods?"
