NORWOOD — May 19, 2026 — Norwood Board of Health closes public hearing on proposed ban of synthetic cannabinoids and kratom, with a vote expected at its next meeting. The board, meeting at the Senior Center on May 19, received one in-person comment and one written submission entered into the record, both in support of the proposed regulation, which would prohibit the manufacturing, sale, and distribution of synthetically derived cannabinoids — including Delta-8 and Delta-10 products — and kratom within town limits. Resident Kathleen praised the regulation's language as "fair" and "strong" and urged the board to treat it as a living document as new products emerge. A written statement from Steve Conecti of Power Road called for doubling the proposed fines and penalties, arguing that stronger enforcement provisions would better deter violations. The board drew its legal authority from Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 111 and Chapter 31, and noted that several neighboring communities have already adopted similar measures.
