Quincy, Milton Land $8 Million Grant For Joint 911 Center

The city and neighboring Milton have been awarded an $8 million state grant to pursue a joint 911 dispatch center, while residents along Wampatuck Road continued pressing officials this week over persistent late-night speeding and drag racing that they say weekend road closures haven't fixed.

The City of Quincy announced this week that Quincy and Milton have been awarded an $8 million state grant to pursue development of a joint 911 dispatch center, a project that would combine emergency call operations for the two communities, according to the city's News Flash announcement.

City Hall also flagged that its elevator is temporarily out of service, according to a notice posted on the city website, and the city is collecting family photo submissions for its Annual Candlelight Vigil Memorial video.

Quincy Public Library's summer programming continues to ramp up. On Saturday, July 18, the library hosts a Summer Read Foam Party from 1 to 2:30 p.m., open to all ages, followed by a DIY Fashion: Teen Edition session from 2 to 4 p.m. for teens. Registration is required for both events. The library's Teen Take & Make "Duck in a Pond" craft kit remains available through July 31, and a Monday Morning Movies screening of "The Minecraft Movie" is set for July 20 at 10 a.m. for children and tweens, alongside a "Summer Adventures – South Park" offsite storytime session that same morning.
