School Committee · Meeting of October 8, 2026

Westwood School Committee reviewed MCAS and youth health survey data, with no votes taken. Chair Joanna French said Director of Equity, Inclusion, and Community Partnerships Latifa Frank updated the committee on the Community Coalition to Combat Hate Speech, whose subcommittees spent the summer setting "clear district response protocols and public reporting standards" and reviewing social-emotional learning gaps. The committee also reviewed 2023 and 2025 results from the anonymous Metro West Adolescent Health Survey, covering substance abuse, bullying, mental health and other topics, which French called "robust and deeply meaningful." Superintendent Pivovar will work with several committee members on peer-district benchmarking for MCAS data.

The committee previewed, but did not vote on, a 2027-2028 school calendar, with action expected in November. The next quarterly office hours are set for October 15, 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the District Professional Development Room.
