Select Board · Meeting of November 2, 2026

Westwood's retiree health trust is nearly half funded, actuaries told the Select Board. Finance Director Stephanie McManis and actuary Kathy Riley said the OPEB trust was 43.9 percent funded at June 30, 2025, with $26.1 million in assets against $59.3 million in liabilities, and an estimated 49.6 percent a year later. The unfunded liability is about $33 million, and full funding is projected for 2042.

The board voted unanimously to accept a $4,620 MassDEP recycling dividend and approved a one-day wine and malt license for the Nov. 29 Turkey Afterburner bike event. Town Administrator Conor Reid said recycling contamination fell to 7.9 percent. Members also heard a Fire Station 1 field subgroup update the day before Question 10.
