Select Board Authorizes Town Hall Relocation Search Ahead of Major Renovation

COHASSET — May 19, 2026 — Cohasset Select Board unanimously authorizes Town Hall relocation search as renovation clock runs out. The board voted May 19 to allow Town Manager Michelle Grasso to engage realtors and negotiate leasable office space for approximately 27 Town Hall employees ahead of an HVAC and demolition phase expected to begin around August 2026 and last 12 to 18 months. Grasso warned that at least one previously identified site has already been leased by another party and that suitable commercial office space in Cohasset is scarce. Lease costs are included in the Town Hall capital budget, and any final agreement will return to the board for approval. The board also appointed Greg Watts as its representative on the Advisory Energy Committee's school solar array evaluation panel — with RFP submissions due May 26 — and appointed Will Ashton to serve on the Massachusetts School Building Authority project committee for the Middle-High School. The June 2 Select Board meeting was canceled; the board's next regular session is June 16, with a goal-setting workshop set for June 9.
