Stoughton Select Board Unanimously Approves Jersey Mike's Subs License on Sharon Street

STOUGHTON — March 3, 2026 — Stoughton Select Board approves Jersey Mike's Subs license and reflects on a special town meeting that passed three articles by wide margins. The board unanimously granted a common victualler license to Five-Star Franchises MA-10 LLC for a new Jersey Mike's Subs at 106 Sharon Street, with all six town departments returning approvals and no conditions attached. Owner-operator Brian O'Loughlin, whose company operates 10 Massachusetts locations, told the board he already employs Stoughton High School students and ran a fundraiser for the school music program. Chair Steve Cavey separately recapped Monday's special town meeting, at which a $3.3 million transfer from the high school project account to the new elementary school project passed with no more than three or four dissenting votes, along with articles dissolving the Visiting Nurse Association enterprise fund and funding exterior work at the train station. Departing member Lou Gito pressed the board on whether the Finance Committee would have adequate time to scrutinize the new VNA program before annual town meeting, and raised the board's three-year failure to formally evaluate the town manager. The April 7, 2026 local election call passed with Vice Chair Deborah Roberts and member Scott Carrera abstaining.
