Stoughton Youth Soccer League is pushing to revitalize its Kolz Field Complex, citing drainage problems that force field closures.

YOUTH LEAGUES -- The Stoughton Youth Soccer League (SYSL) says its Kolz Field Complex "lacks adequate drainage, often leading to field closure which negatively impacts schedules." According to the league's website, the Stoughton Community Preservation Committee has approved a grant toward improvements, but the funding "needs to be officially approved at the May 2026 Annual Town Meeting." Planned work includes subsurface tilling and laser-grading, drainage improvements, and replacement of fencing and goals. The league's posted timeline calls for environmental surveys and permitting to begin in fall 2026, with one field closing for remediation in spring 2027 and the project completed by spring 2028. SYSL says the grant agreement requires the league to raise an additional $40,000 and that "a fundraising initiative will launch in the spring." The league, which says it has served the Stoughton, Massachusetts community since 1973, also announced its online store is open, with 10% of purchases benefiting the league. Registration remains open for its In-House program (Pre-K, kindergarten, grades 1/2) and Travel program (grades 3/4 through 9/11), according to the site.
