Stoughton Youth Soccer League opens online store, presses for Kolz Field drainage fixes.

STOUGHTON -- Stoughton Youth Soccer League registration is open for the summer/fall season, with age groups spanning Pre-K, kindergarten and Grades 1/2 in its in-house program and Grades 3/4, 5/6, 7/8 and 9/11 in travel soccer, according to the league's website.

YOUTH LEAGUES -- The league, which has served the Stoughton community since 1973, announced its new SYSL Store is open, with the league earning 10% of all purchases to support league operations, per the site.

Separately, the league is asking the community to back a drainage overhaul at the Kolz Field Complex, which it says "lacks adequate drainage, often leading to field closure which negatively impacts schedules." The league says the Stoughton Community Preservation Committee has approved a grant toward the project, which needed official sign-off at the Annual Town Meeting. Planned work includes tilling and laser-grading the ground, adding soil to improve drainage, and replacing old fencing and goals, with environmental surveys and permitting, then phased field closures and reopenings, according to the league's site. The league says it must also raise an additional $40,000 under the terms of the Community Preservation Committee grant agreement, with a fundraising push planned.
