Stoughton Youth Soccer League seeks community support for Kolz Field drainage project as no local games are reported this week.

STOUGHTON -- With no high school games scheduled and no town recreation programming reported for the period, the most active sports story in Stoughton this week comes from the Stoughton Youth Soccer League (SYSL), which is working to revitalize its home facility.

The SYSL is pursuing improvements to Kolz Field Complex, the league's home fields, which the organization says lacks adequate drainage and faces frequent closures that disrupt schedules. The Stoughton Community Preservation Committee has approved a grant toward the project, contingent on a vote by Town Meeting Representatives at the May 2026 Annual Town Meeting.

If approved, the project timeline calls for environmental engineering surveys and permitting to begin in fall 2026, with field remediation work — including subsurface tilling, laser-grading, drainage improvements, and cosmetic updates such as new fencing and goals — rolling out through spring 2028.

As part of the CPC grant agreement, SYSL must also raise an additional $40,000 through community fundraising. The league says it will rely on community members to help meet that requirement.

The SYSL also announced its online league store is now open, with the league earning 10 percent of all purchases.
