Wellesley DRB approves church sign, ratifies already-built Woodridge Road home

WELLESLEY — May 27, 2026 — Wellesley DRB approves church sign and post-construction Woodridge Road home. The Design Review Board on May 27 unanimously approved a special sign permit for the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church at 207 Washington Street, with applicant Jack Morgan proposing two 24-square-foot stone-columned sign faces centered on the sanctuary arch and set seven feet from the sidewalk; 78 percent of the congregation backed the design. Vice Chair Iris Lin pushed the applicant to study a flat two-sided sign because "it's actually less cost." The board also unanimously approved a Large House Review for 43 Woodridge Road, where builder Ryan McCarthy and owners Marla Gatner and Stefan Bodnarik rebuilt after mold destroyed the prior home; a dropped second-floor ceiling pushed attic square footage over the LHR threshold after a ZBA appeal failed. Chair Juann Khoory noted DRB vacancies, including a business-community seat, are missing from the town's openings page.
