Wellesley High School fall sports registration is open as the Warren Playground rebuild heads toward a summer finish.

WELLESLEY -- Local sports news this week centers on preparations for the fall season and an ongoing town facilities project, with no high school games scheduled during the period, per ArbiterLive.

TOWN -- The Wellesley Recreation Department reports that construction on Warren Playground, which began in late April, is expected to reach completion around late July.

HIGH SCHOOL -- Wellesley Public Schools Athletics announced that fall athletic registration opened Wednesday, July 1. Tryouts for high school fall sports are set to begin Monday, August 24, with tryout and first-week information to be posted in the second week of August. The department, home of the Raiders, also reminded families that a current physical examination must be on file, uploaded through the SNAP Health Portal, before students may participate.

YOUTH LEAGUES -- The Wellesley Youth Basketball Association is seeking a new Director, according to a notice posted on its website. WYBA offers Wellesley Hoops leagues for grades 2-9, MetroWest travel teams for grades 4-8, the Mini Raiders program for kindergarten and first grade, and a high school recreation league for grades 9-12.
