The Southfield Redevelopment Authority held a remote public meeting Monday on the ongoing South Weymouth Naval Air Station area redevelopment, and Town Hall's early voting hours shifted to weekdays ahead of the Sept. 1 state primary.
TOWN HALL
The Southfield Redevelopment Authority met via Zoom webinar Monday, continuing the town's oversight of the Southfield redevelopment area, a story the town's News Flash also touched on earlier this month when a related construction kickoff meeting was moved to Chapman Middle School.
Early voting hours at Town Hall shifted Monday to the weekday schedule, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Friday, Aug. 28, following the initial weekend voting window ahead of the Sept. 1 state primary.
SCHOOLS
Weymouth Public Schools' calendar shows staff returning Sept. 1, with the first day of school for grades 1 through 6 and grade 9 falling on Sept. 3 as an early release day, alongside kindergarten orientation that same day. Grades 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12, plus kindergarten, begin a full day of school Sept. 4. There is no school Sept. 7 for Labor Day, and pre-kindergarten begins Sept. 8.
