Weymouth Warns of Bobcat Den in East Weymouth

Weymouth officials issued a wildlife alert this weekend after identifying a bobcat den near Hill Street and Grant Street in East Weymouth, urging residents to keep a close eye on cats, small dogs and other small pets. The alert landed as early voting for the Sept. 1 state primary got underway at Town Hall.

The Town of Weymouth's News Flash system confirmed a known bobcat den near the intersection of Hill Street and Grant Street in East Weymouth. Officials noted that bobcat attacks on humans are extremely rare, but the animals may view cats, small dogs and other small domestic animals as potential prey, and residents in the area were advised to take precautions with pets.

Early voting for the Sept. 1 state primary began this weekend, with hours of 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Town Hall. Voting continues on weekdays, Monday through Friday, Aug. 24 through Aug. 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
