Weymouth zoning board approves two permits, resolves land court case
Board of Zoning Appeals · Meeting of August 8, 2026
Weymouth Board of Zoning Appeals approves two special permits and settles a Land Court dispute over two house lots. Meeting with only four of five members present, requiring unanimous votes, the board approved a special permit for a garage and porch addition at 33 Hobomack Road sought by Chris Anderson of Oak Development, and a permit adding four manufactured homes to a former garden-center lot at 0 Washington Street sought by owner David A. Pope.
Attorney Gregory Galvin announced a Massachusetts Land Court remand settlement, under Docket 25 MISC 000665, relocating two house lots off Station and Somerset streets and widening two private easements from nine to 12 feet under a revised May 15, 2026 plan, with maintenance conditions assigned by lot. Chair Kemal A. Denizkurt called it a compromise, noting "everybody likes the status quo." A town planning staffer warned that a new state law makes it "hard pressed to deny variances," with a duplex-by-right bill and a lot-size ballot question also pending.
