Wrentham Votes to Protect 65-Acre West Wrentham Parcel With Conservation Restriction

WRENTHAM — June 3, 2026 — Wrentham Select Board votes unanimously to place a conservation restriction on a 65-acre West Wrentham parcel and to sign a cost-bridging deal with the state. The 5-0 votes on June 3 formalize permanent protection of 2095 West Street, a property purchased for $2.5 million using Community Preservation Act funds, and establish an escrow arrangement under which the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation will deposit $500,000 — $350,000 upon recording of the restriction and $150,000 after demolition of derelict on-site structures — to reimburse the town at no net cost to taxpayers; recording also unlocks a separate $650,000 commitment from the Pawtucket Water Supply Board. Town Manager Michael King separately reported more than $1 million in new state and federal grants secured by town departments, including $800,000 from MassDOT's Community Culvert Program for the Arnold Street culvert and $75,000 for FIFA World Cup public safety costs at Gillette Stadium. The board also accepted the resignations of three volunteers — Conservation Commission member Delaina Reardon after 12 years, Historical Commission member Lisa Bailey, and Economic Development Commission member Tatiana Danilova — and interviewed two applicants for open Conservation Commission seats, with a vote expected at the next meeting.
