Cohasset boards approve $405,458 in FY26 transfers; Sandy Beach striping request tabled

Cohasset Select Board and Advisory Committee jointly approved $405,458 in fiscal year 2026 year-end budget transfers at their July 14 meeting, while declining to authorize an emergency reserve fund draw for Sandy Beach parking-lot striping. Town Accountant Beth Mosley presented the transfer schedule covering police overtime ($113,000), fire overtime ($24,000), snow and ice ($180,212), municipal water bills ($38,989), unemployment ($18,732), Medicare tax ($28,525), and a $2,000 planning account adjustment; the Select Board voted 5-0 and Advisory Committee voted unanimously in favor. A residual snow and ice deficit of roughly $98,000 will be the subject of a future meeting, with the state Bureau of Accounts allowing Cohasset to amortize that amount over three years at roughly $33,000 per year through FY29.

The Sandy Beach striping request — an estimated $7,500 to $8,000 based on a year-old quote — was tabled after Advisory members argued the situation did not meet the emergency standard and that DPW's $35,000 FY27 street-line-painting budget likely has sufficient capacity. The board also voted 5-0 on all seven committee appointment slates, adding Lori Ferreira and Amy McKinnon as new Conservation Commission full members, and approved one-day liquor licenses for the South Shore Hellenic Church Greek Festival on September 12 and 13, 2026.
