Cohasset Select Board Grants Music Circus Full Liquor License, Advances Town Meeting Warrant

Select Board · Meeting of March 10, 2026

Cohasset Select Board unanimously approved a full all-alcoholic beverage license for South Shore Music Circus and advanced a $1 million sewer design bond to Town Meeting. General manager Ross Ronchelli told the board the upgrade at the 2,300-seat Sohier Street venue is driven by customer demand and will roll out gradually, with canned cocktails among the first additions under the new Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 138, Section 12D framework. Advisory Committee approval of the bond article came in at 8 to 0.

The board also voted unanimously to join the state MEMA mutual aid program — one of fewer than five communities statewide yet to do so — and appointed David Farag as board clerk. The evening's sharpest exchange came from Open Space and Recreation Committee members Virginia LeClaire and Adam Norman, who presented a citizens petition to block a planned 160-foot cell tower in Wheelwright Park, citing a flawed land swap, 30 trees slated for removal, and a year of unanswered information requests from the town. Board member David Farag defended the project as a public safety imperative, noting it cleared Town Meeting by more than two-thirds, the state legislature, and the attorney general's office; Chair Ellen Marr said the board will ask counsel whether lease revenue can fund a dedicated open space revolving account.
