Milton Conservation Commission votes unanimously to back a Coastal Zone Management bioretention grant and advances three permit cases to a March 28 site visit. Chair John Kiernan and the six-member board voted 6-0 to issue a letter of support for a grant application — submitted jointly by the town and the Neponset River Watershed Association, with no direct cost to Milton — to fund 100 percent engineering on bioretention cells at stormwater hotspots in the Unquity Brook watershed; town Environmental Coordinator Cassandra Calabro had circulated a draft letter that afternoon ahead of a Monday submission deadline. The commission continued a notice of intent for a new home at 1386 Canton Avenue, where engineer Greg Driscoll presented plans for a combined 8,510-square-foot two-structure development for applicant Solomon Chardry, and was asked to provide tree survey data and roof runoff calculations.

A separate notice of intent for a Randolph Avenue lot drew debate over a 22-foot grade drop to Route 28, with commissioners pushing for a defined rain garden over an informal grass swale. At 51 Riverside Avenue, builder Kyle Martyr was asked to provide impervious-surface calculations and told the proposed garage addition may need to move rearward to exit the 100-year AE coastal flood zone — a zone Commissioner Arthur Doyle, citing Cornell University projections presented that day at a UMass Boston coastal relocation workshop, said is expected to expand dramatically by 2070.
