Dedham Youth Baseball launches Summer Sandlot Series with first session set for Wednesday, June 24.

DEDHAM -- Dedham Youth Baseball is kicking off a new in-town summer program this week as the Summer Sandlot Series opens its eight-week run.

YOUTH LEAGUES

The Summer Sandlot Series begins Wednesday, June 24, and runs every Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. through August 12. The program is open to players ages 6–9 and is designed as a mix of skills development and sandlot-style gameplay. Sessions will be held primarily at the Rustcraft fields. Each registered player receives a T-shirt and hat. Spots are limited, and registration is available through the Dedham Youth Baseball website. The league describes the series as an introduction to travel summer baseball for younger players.

Also on the Dedham Youth Baseball calendar: the Birdball Baseball Camp, led by Boston College Head Coach Greg Sullivan, runs August 17–21 at Memorial Field, daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., for boys and girls ages 7–12. Cost is $395, with a $50 discount for Dedham residents.

The Dedham Basketball Association announced scholarship awards to four student-athletes: Abby LeGendre (University of Tennessee), Keira Murphy-Clinton (Northeastern University), Dante Gutierrez (University of South Carolina), and Grace Bender (Salve Regina University). Town and travel basketball registration for the coming winter season is currently closed.

No Dedham High School games were reported for the period. The school athletics website is currently under construction.
